Dr. Goldstein eröffnet seine Praxis in Chelm, und sein erster Patient ist der Stadtweise Moisha. Moisha klagt dem Doktor, dass es ihn überall wehtut, wo er sich berührt. Dr. Goldstein sagt, das sei unmöglich. Moisha demonstriert: 'Ich berühre meinen Arm – es tut weh. Ich berühre meinen Hals – es tut weh. Ich berühre mein Bein – es tut weh. Überall, wo ich mich berühre, tut es weh!' Dr. Goldstein untersucht ihn kurz und erklärt: 'Moisha, Sie haben einen gebrochenen Finger.'
Dr. Goldstein opens his office in Chelm and his first patient is the town sage Moisha. Moisha tells Dr. Goldstein that everywhere he touches it hurts. Dr. Goldstein tells him that is not possible. Moisha: "I touch my arm and it hurts. I touch my neck it hurts. I touch my leg it hurts and every place I touch it hurts." Dr. Goldstein: "Moisha, you have a broken finger."
