Eine ältere Dame steigt in ein Flugzeug. Sie trägt eine Tasche, eine Handtasche und eine Box mit einem kleinen Hund bei sich. Sie setzt sich auf ihren Platz und stellt die Box auf den freien Sitz neben sich.
Eine Flugbegleiterin nähert sich und sagt: 'Es tut mir leid, gnädige Frau, aber Sie können den Hund nicht hierbehalten. Ich muss ihn mitnehmen und im Frachtraum unterbringen.' Die Dame willigt seufzend ein. Was bleibt ihr auch anderes übrig?
Während des Fluges schaut die Flugbegleiterin nach dem kleinen Hund und – Oy Gewalt! – der Hund ist tot! Sie informiert sofort den Piloten, der den Flughafen verständigt. Der Flughafendirektor entscheidet kurzerhand, dass sie heimlich einen identischen Hund besorgen, um das tote Tier zu ersetzen. Die ältere Dame soll von all dem nichts mitbekommen.
Als das Flugzeug landet und die Dame in der Gepäckhalle ihre Box abholen will, bringt man ihr eine Box mit einem lebendigen, neuen Hund – einer exakten Kopie ihres alten Hundes.
'Das ist nicht mein Hund!', ruft sie entsetzt aus. 'Aber natürlich ist er das, gnädige Frau', versucht der Kapitän sie zu beruhigen. 'Schauen Sie doch, er hat genau dieselben Flecken.' 'Das ist nicht mein Hund!', beharrt sie. 'Aber woher wollen Sie das denn so genau wissen?', fragt der Kapitän ungeduldig. 'Mein Hund war tot!'
A little old lady get on a plane. She's carrying a bag, a purse and a little dog in a box.
She sits down and puts the box on the seat next to her. A stewardess approaches and says, "I'm sorry Madam, but you can't keep the dog here. I'll have to take it and put it in baggage." She agrees. What else can she do? During the flight, the stewardess looks in on the little dog, and Oy Gevult, the dog is dead.
She informs the pilot who notifies airport who tells the director who decides that they will get an other dog to replace this one. The little old lady will never know. When the plane lands and she goes to the baggage hall to claim her box, they bring her a box with a new dog, an exact replica of her old dog.
"This is not my dog", she exclaims.
"Why yes it is," the captain tells her.
"See, it has the same markings."
"This is not my dog", she insists.
"How do you know this isn't your dog?" asks the captain.
"My dog is dead!"
