In den 1970er-Jahren besucht ein sowjetischer Schulinspektor eine Schulklasse und befragt die Kinder nach ihrer patriotischen Gesinnung. Er deutet auf einen Jungen und fragt: „Wer ist dein Vater?“
Der Junge antwortet stolz: „Die Sowjetunion!“
„Und wer ist deine Mutter?“
„Die Kommunistische Partei!“
„Sehr gut! Und was möchtest du einmal werden, wenn du groß bist?“
„Ein Stachanow-Arbeiter und Held der Arbeit zum Ruhme unseres Staates und der Partei!“
Der Inspektor nickt zufrieden, zeigt auf ein Mädchen und fragt: „Wer ist dein Vater?“
Das Mädchen antwortet: „Die Sowjetunion!“
„Wer ist deine Mutter?“
„Die Kommunistische Partei!“
„Und was willst du einmal werden?“
„Eine Heldin der Sowjetunion, die viele aufrechte Kinder für den Staat und die Partei großzieht!“
Der Inspektor blickt sich im Klassenzimmer um und entdeckt ganz hinten in der letzten Reihe einen jüdischen Jungen, der versucht, sich möglichst unauffällig wegzuducken. Der Inspektor zeigt mit dem Finger auf ihn: „Wie heißt du?“
Der Junge antwortet leise: „Mendel Abramowitsch.“
„Wer ist dein Vater?“
„Die Sowjetunion.“
„Wer ist deine Mutter?“
„Die Kommunistische Partei.“
„Und was möchtest du einmal werden, wenn du groß bist?“
Mendel antwortet trocken: „Ein Waisenkind.“
In the 1970s, a Russian school inspector is questioning children in a classroom. He points to one of the boys and says, "Who is your father?"
The boy replies proudly, "The Soviet Union."
He then asks, "Who is your mother?"
"The Communist Party," comes the reply.
"And what do you want to be when you grow up?"
"I want to be a Stakhanovite worker for the glory of the state and the party!"
The inspector nods, points to one of the girls and asks, "Who is your father?"
The girl answers, "The Soviet Union."
"Who is your mother?"
"The Communist Party."
"And what do you want to be when you grow up?"
"A heroine of the Soviet Union, raising lots of children for the state and party!"
The inspector looks around and spots a Jewish boy tucked away at the back trying to look inconspicuous. He points and says, "What's your name?"
The boy replies quietly, "Mendel Abramovitch."
"Who is your father?"
"The Soviet Union."
"Who is your mother?"
"The Communist Party."
"And what do you want to be when you grow up?"
Mendel replies dryly, "An orphan."
